Manta ray spotted!!!

*Suomeksi jälleen lopussa*

Dirk with the widest smile in the world
Another day of diving with Sea Bees. Now we were headed to Koh Bon, where the Manta ray's have been spotted this season. Our divemaster today was Dirk. He explained in full depth what to do when you do see a Manta.

  • Stay put and stop where you are. Do not try to swim straight to the Manta. They scare easily
  • The Manta might like your exhale bubbles, so keep making them and hope for the Manta to be circling around the divers and their bubles
  • Do not touch! The Manta will get scared and will not return this season to Koh Bon (don't touch anything else either in the sea. They will die out of fear and stress or out of simple touching)
  • Last a secret tip: If the Manta comes close, try to seek for eye contact. Manta ray might become interested about you and come even closer

And then we dived and the Manta ray came. Jani kept pulling me from my arm a thousand times and showing me the Manta ray. I already saw it, so there was no point. But he was also very exited, so he wanted to make sure I actually did see. No pictures could be taken, but our divemaster and others took couple of really nice pictures. Maybe we get them to share those?

Scorpion fish "laying low"
The second dive ended without Manta rays, but we did get to see Lion fishes and scorpion fish. Also a moray eel, which had pulled himself quite far from the hole.

First Moray eel ever to come this much out of it's hole
Again Andreas looked at our photos and gave us tips between and after the dives. We booked a wreck dive to monday and are going to get some training from him. Hoping that after that my photos will kick ass :) Maybe you'll see the difference in the photos that I post?

*Suomeksi*
